Luke St John
Luke is a Trainee Orchard Manager at Fortune Fruit, where he plays a key role across both the packhouse and orchard operations. Having started in the packhouse during the 2019/2020 season, he now manages packhouse teams while also contributing to orchard work throughout the year. His responsibilities include training and supervising staff, overseeing day-to-day operations, spraying, machinery operations and of course pruning. With a strong interest in understanding the full picture of orchard performance, Luke is driven by continuous improvement — always looking for ways to refine processes, lift quality, and produce the best possible fruit. He takes pride in the detail, striving for consistency and quality in pursuit of the “largest, most uniform cherry.”
After previously competing at a national level, Luke is entering the Young Grower competition again to challenge himself, expand his network, and continue developing his skills within the industry.
Outside of work, Luke enjoys spending time in the outdoors, skiing, going to the gym, working in his garden, and walking his dog. And aspires to one day own and operate his own orchard.
