Luke St John

Luke works at Fortune Fruit in Cromwell where he has worked seasonally in the packhouse since the 2019/2020 season, as well as vocational work during university holidays. He started in the outwards chiller and is now managing the packhouse. Luke has a hands-on interest in the horticulture industry, nurtured by his peers and managers.

Having studied Botany and Ecology at the University of Otago, Luke has a good understanding of plants and their functionality.  Now studying Horticulture Fruit Production Level 4 through Otago Polytechnic, he is becoming enthusiastic about the industry.

Luke entered the Central Otago Young Grower competition with encouragement from his employer but also saw it as an opportunity to meet other young people in the industry and to learn some new skills.

Luke enjoys looking after his indoor plants, playing video games, food and living close to the ski slopes.
